NDFA Update

Well, the main offices at headquarters are just buzzing with activity. So much so we are looking to hire a few more new employees. If you would like to apply please write to contactndfa@gmail.com with your request.
Never since their first appearance in 1859 have drinking fountains been so popular. And too keep you updated, the NDFA is starting a monthly newsletter. If you are interested in receiving such a newsletter please write to contactndfa@gmail.com and put "I would very much like to receive NDFA newsletter" in the subject line. We will add you to our contacts and send you a newsletter as soon as possible.
Also if you would like to become a member of the NDFA, we will begin accepting pledges next month. And with a pledge of $10 or more you will receive an official NDFA T-shirt!
The NDFA is largely community based and so if you have any comments or suggestions feel free to leave them on the blog or write to us at contactndfa@gmail.com

The First Public Drinking Fountain

2007 marks the 148 anniversary of the the fist public drinking fountain.
The first public drinking fountain was unveiled, on April 21, 1859, before a large and enthusiastic crowd. (shown below)

And within a matter of days, it was being used by nearly 7,000 people each day. So please remember and celebrate this year as a milestone year for public drinking fountains, their 148 anniversary.
